Sorare Teams up with Starkware to Alleviate Gas Fees

Popular fantasy football game “Sorare” is the latest platform to implement a solution to Ethereum’s ever debilitating gas prices.

A victim of Ethereum’s own success, as the network becomes more and more congested, the gas prices continue to rise. Consequently, this is a major obstacle for NFT projects hoping to appeal to the mass market. With crippling gas fees driving away potential customers, many platforms have been left seeking a solution.

To ensure a better for the platform and its fans, Sorare has implemented Starkware’s scaling solution. The system utilises “Zero Knowledge Proof” technology (ZKP) to securely combine thousands of off-chain transactions. These are then and passed to Ethereum as a single unit, greatly reducing the gas fees incurred.

Sorare claims that the game will be able to handle more than 3,000 NFT transactions per second once StarkWare’s solution is implemented. As a testament to how much of a problem gas fees are for the Sorare platform, last week, data analytics firm Nansen indicated that Sorare had consumed more than 2% of all gas on Ethereum over a period of seven days.

While a welcome easing of the gas fee crisis, this does not represent a permanent solution, but is definitely a step in the right direction.
