Saturday Night Live (SNL) couldn’t resist jumping on the NFT bandwagon since their SNL skit ‘What the hell’s an NFT’ went viral last week. The skit is a parody video featuring US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (portrayed by Kate McKinnon), Eminem inspired-rap by Batman’s sidekick Robin (portrayed by Pete Davidson), and Morpheus from The Matrix portrayed by Chris Redd.
The show is now auctioning an NFT based on the skit, which is available on OpenSea. The current highest bid is $33,955.95 (16.5375 ETH).

There is only one edition available for purchase, and the highest bidder will receive two tickets to a taping of ‘Saturday Night Live’ on a mutually agreed upon date during Season 47. All proceeds from the sale will go to Stop AAPI Hate, an organisation that helps to stop hate against Asian American Pacific Islander communities that has risen during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SNL is one of the most popular American late-night live television sketch comedy shows, with over 9.1 million viewers. Such was the importance of this short skit to the growth of the NFT community, even NFT Plazas got in on the action by making it the featured image on Edition 4 of our DIGIZINE collectables.
