Exceptional digital artist, Osinachi, is about to become the first African to list an NFT at world-leading auction house, Christie’s. Up for grabs is his interpretation of David Hockney’s 1972 swimming pool painting.
Osinachi’s unusual medium of choice is Microsoft Office, on which he creates his intricate masterworks. His deeply personal creations speak of life growing up in Nigeria, and the trials facing African people as they find their feet in the wider world, represented by vibrant, piercing works that speak from the soul.
Five items will make up the collection, with estimates ranging from $50k – $80k. Christies will conduct an online only auction from October 5 – 19, accepting bids in Ethereum and Bitcoin. Furthermore, each digital painting will feature at the prestigious 1-54 London Fair. A massive celebration of artistic talent showcasing galleries from all over the world.
Following in the footsteps of a number of great artists, Osinachi has adopted NFTs as his vehicle for distributing his ideas. Earlier this year, he sold just three of his creations for an impressive $75k.
