The City of Miami has officially accepted Bitcoin as a form of payment, and it’s time to celebrate with a live virtual party in Decentraland! Earlier this February, Mayor Frances Suarez proposed paying municipal workers and collecting taxes in Bitcoin. He believes workers should have the option to receive either all or a part of their pay in Bitcoin.
The ‘Miami Bitcoin City’ celebration is happening today, March 5 between 8pm – 10pm EST. It will be held at one of the best venues in Festival Land, Casa Azul.

The Miami legends from Pure Funk Radio will be spinning the best of 70s, 80s, and 90s tunes. This is the first radio station to move to the blockchain 24/7, and Pure Funk Radio will be playing the latest mixes and hosting live call-ins every Saturday from now on.
Suarez is a major supporter of widely adopting Bitcoin. “I think we’re on the cusp of seeing a major titanic shift on this,” Suarez told the city commission. “It’s an industry that’s boisterous, vociferous and growing, and this would send the right signal.”
