Mike Casey, a story-telling songwriter, producer and sonic saxophone alchemist, has released an NFT collection on OpenSea. The collection is based on his visual jazz/fusion album Law of Attraction, and many of the NFTs come with unlockable content.
The collection contains various 1 of 1 NFTs, limited editions, music videos, unreleased album artwork and original songs from his critically acclaimed studio debut/visual album Law of Attraction. The album was featured on Spotify’s “Best Jazz of 2020,” Huffington Post, BBC, iHeartRadio, Vevo, Amazon Music, JazzTimes, and Jazz FM. It has also received more than 1.5 million streams around the world, without a record label.
Music NFTs (perhaps it should be called CryptoMusic) are still not as popular as CryptoArt, however, the trend is growing and NFTs have the potential to completely revolutionize the music industry as the internet did. Since there are no middlemen involved, musicians can be flexible with auctioning their work off, and play around with offering special perks with their music NFTs, such as concert tickets and merchandise.
