Heavy metal gods, Iron Maiden, have teamed up with Funko and WAX blockchain to release an inaugural set of NFT collectibles. The result is a series of cartoonified incarnations of Eddie, the band’s iconic mascot.
Later this month, creators of bobble headed fan collectibles, Funko, will launch a set of Iron Maiden themed digital assets, representing the first musical artist in the Funko range to cross into the NFT realm. There will be 44 versions of the band’s digital miscreant ready for fans to collect.
The new Eddie collectibles come in packs of 5 and 15 Pops! priced at $9.99 and $29.99 respectively. 18k standard and 6k premium packs are available to the regular consumer with a purchase limit of $30 per transaction. Furthermore, Funko will utilise WAX’s patented “virtual in real life (vIRL)” technology. With this in mind, certain assets and combinations of assets are redeemable for physical items.
Iron Maiden’s digital endeavour will arrive at 11AM PDT on September 30, exclusively on WAX, and will give fans an extra facet for connecting with their favourite rock stars.
Eddie has represented the band for the last 40 years, ever since the release of their first album, the self-titled, “Iron Maiden”. He has been the subject of a number of spin-off projects including a series of graphic novels, and a video game.
