We all know beloved CryptoArt icon, Beeple, shook the world earlier this year when he sold his “Everydays: The First 5000 Days” for a shocking $69 million to NFT investor and crypto whale Metakovan. Those of us who were there during the event will remember holding our breaths until the very last second, hearts beating fast, wondering how the auction will end. But how many of us remember that Beeple actually sold his ETH for…fiat.
Well, in case you had forgotten, the amusing Beeple69M account on Twitter can keep you up to date. The account was created shortly after Beeple announced in an interview that NFTs are a bubble and that he had swapped his ETH for traditional cash.
“Boom, 53 million dollars in my account. Like, what the fuck,” Beeple exclaimed in an interview with The New Yorker, recalling the day he rushed to receive the money in Miami, where he flew on a booked private jet to celebrate. “I’m not remotely a crypto-purist. I was making digital art long before any of this shit, and if all this fucking NFT stuff went away tomorrow I would still be making digital art”.

So the real question is, how much would he have now if he had not sold his ETH? Well, according to Beeple69M (at the time of writing): “If Beeple kept the $69M in $ETH it would be worth $154,059,980.00 now. Calculated by using the estimated 38,000 ETH received from the sale.”
The account is updated once a day, every day at 18:00 UTC, using CoinGecko price feed for calculations. It was created by security and antiphishing expert harry.eth, and has proved to be a great source of informational entertainment. So, if you ever want to sell your ETH, just take a look at Beeple69M first and think twice about it.
