If your preferred kind of metal is of the heavy variety, then have we got some news for you. NFT marketplace, Rarible are preparing to host an auction of rare rock memorabilia.
On sale, are items pertaining to Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, who rose to fame as the founding members of notorious speed metal band Pantera. The ambiguously named “Brothers” NFT features artworks and real-world items relating to the legendary hell raisers.
The main draw is an actual guitar, signed by Dimebag, and painted by artist to the stars Jason Oberly. Accompanying the item is an unlockable digital drive link containing a painting of the instrument. Additionally, the NFT includes a limited-edition Helleah banner signed by Vinnie and authentication of the signatures of the famous musicians.
The auction will commence on July 22, exclusively on Rarible.
With his hard-hitting riffs and instinctive musical timing, fans remember Dimebag as one of heavy metal’s greatest guitarists. His brother Vinnie was more than a match on the drums. A disgruntled fan brutally gunned down Dimebag in 2004 as he warmed up for a gig with the band Damageplan. His final words were reportedly, “Van Halen”. Vinnie Paul sadly passed away in 2018 due to ill health.
The auction is being curated by Kilpop Entertainment, a multimedia company whose focus is to bring a greater interaction with rock fans. Future auctions are set to include memorabilia from bands such as Tool, Audioslave and The Offspring.
