Art duo extraordinaire, Hackatao, have embarked on a journey of discovery. In order to observe and identify the implications behind art ownership, they concocted a cunning plan. Pondering these and other conundrums they launched the “Remix Me” project.
With this in mind, Hackatao invited a number of prominent artists to re-imagine some of their finest creations. Lines were altered, mediums crossed and figures dismantled. The result is a magnificent mash-up of styles, thought processes and interpretations pertaining to the much lauded original works.
The project itself is a call to arms issued by Hackatao, for venerable artists to take up the various tools of their trade. To fight the good fight on the digital canvas, and explore what it means to remix a work of art.
Working together with law firm Piselli and Partners, and curated by the inspirational Eleonora Brizi, the project set out to push the limits of the industry, to delve further than creators have previously investigated and finely examine the blurry edges of ownership in the art world. Consequently, this exploration of the inner workings of the medium has borne fantastic fruits. The result will arrive shortly on MakersPlace.
Hackatao’s Remix Me lands at 10:30PM UTC on September 23. Alternatively, head over to the Hackatao Twitter feed right now for a glimpse at the outstanding results of the project.
