In the metaverse, your avatar dictates how the rest of the world sees you, and how you see yourself. Once you’ve found the right avatar, you may want to dress it in clothing and accessories that you would wear in the real world, and one day, you might even be able to choose from the same brands that you use in the real world.
As the world grows more involved with the metaverse, brands will likely begin to grow their presence within these virtual worlds. Many popular brand names can already be found in the metaverse, and there will certainly be more over the next decade. The new startup, PIXELYNX, seeks to help brands transition from the real world to the metaverse, and claims they will serve as the “portal to the metaverse.”
PIXELYNX was created by EDM musicians, Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) and Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), along with other big names from the industry like Dean Wilson (Seven20 Entertainment), Inder Phull (Graphite Music), and Ben Turner (IMS). Co-founder, Inder Phull stated “We are on the edge of an exciting transition in entertainment where the lines between gaming, music, fashion, art and technology are being blurred…Fortnite, Roblox and emerging virtual environments will represent the future of social life. Our mission is to help our partners enter this space and bring value to their fans in a meaningful way.”
The PIXELYNX website is still pretty barren, with only an “about” and “contact” page at the moment, but they’ll soon be releasing NFTs along with broader music and gaming experiences in the metaverse. What’s more, they’ve recently partnered with Tafi, a leading name in 3D avatar solutions.
Tafi is known for their line of emoji clothing for the Samsung Galaxy AR emojis, as well as for designing the avatar creator for the Ready Player One Steam game. “We are honored to work alongside the amazing team at PIXELYNX; they are at the forefront of the digital revolution for music, gaming, fashion, art, and technology. As a company dedicated to democratizing the creation of digital content, we look forward to collaborating with PIXELYNX to help define the next generation of culture,” said James Thornton, Tafi CEO.
With the huge roster of music-industry talent, alongside the proven success of Tafi, it’ll be interesting to see what PIXELYNX is able to accomplish. Deadmau5 is one of the most popular names in EDM, and if he’s able to bring that same level of creative success to PIXELYNX, it’s safe to say we’ll see big things out of them.
