African art collective, Cyber Baat, is about to launch its inaugural exhibition. As such, the “Distorted Realities” collection will showcase the talents of 23 emerging artists of African heritage.
The exhibition is a physical gallery taking place in Dakar, Senegal, running in tandem with an NFT auction on Foundation. The collection will feature fascinating artworks which operate as a window into the minds of a selection of talented African artists and therefore, is an interpretation of the realities they experience on a daily basis.
Cyber Baat is the brainchild of Senegalese artist, Linda Dounia, who noted the lack of representation from her homeland. She consequently decided it was high time something was done about it. With this vision, she has accumulated some of the finest young talents in the African art scene and will send art lovers on an express ride through their imagination.
A huge focus for Linda is to support the next generation of artists and take that raw talent and guide it through the turbulent art scene. She sees the pool of African artists as somewhat overlooked and has designs to improve their overall exposure to the world. Heading into the future, Linda has plans to set up a CyberBaatDAO in order to leverage the blockchain and fund future enterprises.
The Cyber Baat exhibition launches in Dakar, Senegal, on September 16. The online auction will follow suit on the Foundation marketplace.
