Welcome to CryptoArt Sundays! This week we have someone who has practically been in the NFT art scene since it’s very humble beginnings. Leeaux has been minting on MakersPlace circa 2018 and he is one of the very first CryptoArtists I found out about when I first heard of NFTs. I don’t remember exactly how, perhaps scrolling through the CryptoArt marketplaces.
I seriously love his diverse style of artworks and his natural talent for expressing himself in his own completely unique art techniques. Leeaux truly lives the creative’s lifestyle, constantly involved in many different art project and a true visionary in the art field.
He currently resides in Las Vegas and is a full-time artist, brand developer and entrepreneur. Creativity is his bread and butter, and he also develops websites and continuously collaborates with a growing number of art collectives inner-city, regionally, and nationally.
Let’s dive into the interview and see what this CryptoArt veteran has to say about the future of this space!
How did you find out about the NFT space, and what attracted you to create your own NFTs?
I found out about the NFT space by being early invited to MakersPlace in 2018. I had no idea what would come of this, but I was very down to have my artwork part of a new market.
How often do you create?
I’m constantly creating. Recently I began exploring more avenues of my creativity. As an artist I choose to express myself in multiple ways. I love to illustrate. For a while I illustrated daily until I could truly master the pen. I feel that I’m in a good place now after many years of drawing to where I can pick up a pen and go at it even if I haven’t practiced for weeks. In times that I’m not drawing, I’m taking photos, building websites, editing videos, making beats, and djing.
What is your creative process?
I listen to a lot of music that brings me back to where I started as an artist. I dig deep into my memories and then channel out what I feel. I ride my bike and smoke weed and really get the gritty ideas flowing that make my next masterpiece. Probably crying.
Are there any CryptoArtists you would love to collaborate with?
Yes, I look forward to collaborating with John Orion Young, Alex Pardee, Frankynines, Elf J Trul, Yonfrula, & Berger&Föhr.
What do you think the future of CryptoArt will look like?
The future of CryptoArt is actually going to be abundant in many ways based on the application of its technology. It’s a new outlet for many creators. It’s allowing us to place value on our ideas, something we’ve needed to have more control over as social media (which is new) rapidly evolves. Overtime things e.g. entertainment/arts- have become “on demand” so that can provide some challenges in discovery-not only in the film industry but in the arts as well.
The internet is considerably new, and the NFT CryptoArt space is even newer, thus how we previously discovered prodigies has changed drastically overtime. Some could say it’s right on time. The merger of the two worlds (internet use/on demand meeting crypto/NFT) is how we need to channel foresight.
What are you currently working on?
My artwork is being turned into skateboards through a distribution company in CO. Some friends and I are bringing our internet collective to greater heights, it’s been a year long process but we’re getting closer everyday. I’m following emerging artists/creators around and filming their stories for our internet collective TEAMKILLEVERYONE. I’m working with some artists on showcasing their works in Los Angeles/Santa Monica/Las Vegas/New Orleans. I’m always involved with something fun.
Where can collectors buy your work?
Collectors can find my works on my website. There is a list of NFT platforms that my art can be scooped up from, I really dig how KnownOrigin has upgraded since I joined them, so I’d encourage there as well.
