CryptoArt Sundays: Interview with Idil Dursun

Welcome to CryptoArt Sundays everyone! This week I am presenting you with the phenomenal Idil Dursun. She has been an artist forever, but got into NFTs in early 2021, and has since found incredible success in this space.

She completed her studies in architecture at Bilkent University, and shortly afterwards began her professional career as a CGI Artist in “ivaBOX.” Her art is focused on dystopian scenery and cyberpunk environments, and she is inspired by architecture, environment concepts, and video games.

So let’s dive in and see what she is up to, her next project, and how her experience in the NFT space has been so far!

How did you find out about the NFT space, and what attracted you to create your own NFTs?

Before February 2021 I had never heard of the term NFT. The first time I saw it on an Instagram page I read about it but honestly didn’t understand what it was. In March 2021, I saw one of my friends was selling his work as NFTs and asked him what it is, he was kind enough to explain it all to me and told me I should definitely try it too. So I decided to give it a shot. Minted my first work back in March 2021 and sold it the next day, it was completely crazy.

How often do you create?

Usually I am creating non-stop. Especially for the last couple of months I’ve been part of some very cool projects so I’m completely focused on the deadlines of those at the moment. I am also working full time for my daily job so I only have my evenings and weekends to work on my personal artworks. It is super exhausting trying to manage them both so I try to get some breaks time to time if I can.

What is your creative process?

I always start by looking for inspiration from my favorite artists. I use 3DS Max to create my scenes. Usually I play with some basic shapes there and decide on my camera angle, then push it further with details. I render with Corona Renderer -as a habit from my daily job- then do some post production on Photoshop and voila! It usually takes around two weeks for me to finish a work.

Are there any CryptoArtists you would love to collaborate with?

I already have some collaborations planned with some of my favourite artists in the future but for now I would say I’d like to collaborate with Annibale Siconolfi and DrifterShoots. Both are insanely talented artists that I respect a lot.

What do you think the future of CryptoArt will look like?

I wouldn’t be surprised if all galleries sell artworks as NFTs in the future. I believe NFTs are the most reliable way of proving ownership of literally anything and I hope it will evolve to bring more and more renowned artists and collectors to the field, especially for the 1/1 artwork markets.

What are you currently working on?

I have 3 upcoming projects other than my 1/1 works on SuperRare that I am trying to finish up before the deadlines. I am not able to tell the specific details about 2 of them but I promise both are crazy exciting ones. The 3rd one on the other hand is my Nifty Gateway collection coming up early 2022 and I am planning something huge for it.

Where can collectors find your work?

I am mainly on SuperRare for my 1/1 works and have a piece on Nifty Gateway which is 30 editions and available on the secondary market. For my previous works you can also visit my Foundation and MakersPlace profiles.
