Christie’s Auction House is continuing its love affair with NFTs by hosting the now infamous “Genesis” artwork by crypto-art pioneer Josie Bellini.
Josie rose to fame in 2017, when an artwork she posted on a crypto subreddit went viral. The piece shows a a girl glancing skyward, her face half-hidden with a mask consisting of a bear’s head and bull’s horns. To set this all off, crypto coins of the day adorn the background. This was Josie’s visual representation of the bear and bull markets in the crypto world, and her audience loved it. This was her genesis moment.
From then on, it was onwards and upwards for Josie Bellini, who has now become an icon within the CryptoArt scene, and who also received support in the metaverse from NFT Plazas on her journey to the top. To date, she has sold over 300 NFT artworks, some of which are changing hands for incredible sums. With her striking works, and on-the-nose political critiques, Josie is considered something of an oracle in crypto circles.
Now, the piece that started it all has been minted as an NFT and is listed on Christie’s Auction House. The auction commences at 2PM UTC on May 25th at Christie’s Auction House and will run until June 3rd.
Furthermore, Josie will conduct a series of shows dissecting the work, and outlining how it has altered the CryptoArt scene. Keep an eye on Twitter for further details.
