Earlier this year, prolific artist, Beeple, turned the art world on its head with the sale of “EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS.” Now he is back with a digital and physical hybrid, set to push the art boundaries once again.
“Human One” is a representation of a lone astronaut as it strolls purposefully through an alien plain. In what is essentially a video sculpture, an image is projected onto the four sides of a box, revolving slowly as the mysterious subject makes its endless journey.

The new artwork will go under the hammer at Christie’s on November 9, with estimates sitting at a mind-boggling $15 million. While the winning bidder will take home the physical item, it also comes hand-in-hand with an NFT element. Through future updates Beeple will continue to evolve the metadata, creating an organic artwork that will continue to grow beyond the sale.
Due to the physical nature of the piece, it will likely garner interest from both digital and traditional collectors. And, with the sale occurring side-by-side conventional artworks, it’s a sign that the industry is evolving too. Furthermore, art fans can take in the wonders of this new creation at Christie’s Rockefeller Gallery from October 30.
